Seeking Persephone Event

With special guest Jake Stormoen

Portrait of Jake Stormoen

A reader's escape

A literary getaway like no other

At The ReaderShip Cancún, the stories you love are just the beginning! Spend a weekend at AVA Resort Cancún surrounded by fellow book lovers who get just as excited about fictional characters, swoony romances, and staying up way too late to finish “one more chapter.” Meet clean romance authors at book signings, book clubs, and an amazing book fair. Dress up for the Regency Ball and step into the world of Seeking Persephone with special guest Jake Stormoen. In between it all, laugh with new friends who quickly feel like old friends, swap book recommendations by the pool, and make the kind of memories that happen when a shared love of books brings the right people together. Sometimes the best part of the story is the people you meet along the way.

VISITAX, airport transfers, optional excursions, shopping, and certain resort activities or special events may incur additional charges. AVA Kids Club welcomes children ages 4–10. Parent-led activities are also available for families with children ages 3 and younger. To attend official ReaderShip events, guests must book their resort stay through the ReaderShip room block and hold a valid event ticket.

Do I have to book through the group?

To participate in ReaderShip Cancún events and activities, your resort reservation must be booked through the official ReaderShip Cancún group.

Can I register if I don't know who I'm going with yet?

Yes. If you haven’t chosen a travel companion, complete this form ↗ to request your booking. If you find someone to share your room later, your registration can be updated before final payment.

Traveling solo?

Solo travelers are welcome, with room options at different prices. Complete this form ↗ to discuss your options. We’ll also share dedicated posts on Instagram and Facebook for travelers interested in connecting with a new friend to share a room.

Will the event sell out?

Don’t worry—if the booking link shows no availability, it means our current block of reserved rooms has filled. We reserve rooms in blocks and will add more as each block fills, so this does not mean The ReaderShip event is sold out.

Can I book a room for more than two people?

Each room is reserved for two adults and up to two children. If your party includes more than two adults and/or children, complete this form ↗ to discuss booking options and availability.

Can I come with a friend who isn't a reader?

Absolutely. Friends and family are welcome to stay with you at AVA through the ReaderShip room block. ReaderShip event tickets are only needed for guests who plan to attend the events.

Can I bring my children?

Yes. A room may include two adults and up to two children. AVA Kids Club welcomes children ages 4–10. Families with children ages 3 and younger can choose parent-led activities at the resort. ReaderShip event tickets are only needed for guests attending the events and are available to ages 12 and older. Children under 12 may enjoy the resort stay but cannot attend ReaderShip events. For room details, fill out this form ↗ so Liz can contact you.

I have food allergies or medical needs. What should I do?

During registration, you’ll have space to list your specific dietary, accessibility, or other needs. For severe allergies, accessibility accommodations, or medical concerns, please contact AVA Resort Cancún directly at 888-889-6110 (U.S. and Canada) to discuss your needs and confirm what the resort can accommodate. Remember to bring any essential medications with you.

Are there activities outside ReaderShip events?

Yes. You can enjoy AVA's resort offerings and explore Cancún on your own time. Optional excursions are being planned for Monday, September 27, 2027, for an additional fee. Other upgrades or purchases outside the included resort package and ReaderShip program may also cost extra.

What is the cancellation policy?

The initial payment is nonrefundable. Traveler names on a booking may be changed until the final payment is made. We strongly recommend travel insurance for unexpected cancellations and potential travel disruptions. Review the policy's covered reasons and terms before purchasing.

What is the payment schedule?

For your resort reservation, the first night's stay is due at the time of booking. Half of the remaining balance is due February 4, 2027, and the remaining balance is due June 3, 2027. Payment links will be sent to the email address provided upon booking. For event ticket payments, see the full event ticket details or the Regency Ball-only ticket details.

Do I need a passport?

Yes, if you are flying from the United States to Mexico, you need a valid passport book; a U.S. passport card cannot be used for air travel. Check your passport well before departure. Travelers of other nationalities should confirm the entry requirements that apply to them. Review U.S. travel guidance ↗

Are flights included?

No. Flights are not included. Guests should fly into Cancún International Airport (CUN); view airport information ↗. Official ReaderShip events begin at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 24, 2027. We recommend arriving on Thursday or early Friday morning. You may extend your stay before or after the event at our discounted ReaderShip room rate, subject to availability.

Can I extend my stay or come early?

Yes. We encourage travelers to arrive Thursday evening, September 23, or early Friday morning, September 24, before events begin at 2 p.m. If you’re attending only the weekend events, we recommend departing Monday morning, September 27, after the final event on Sunday evening. Optional excursions will be available Monday for guests who wish to participate; if you join an excursion, we recommend staying through Tuesday, September 28. You may extend your stay before or after the event at our discounted ReaderShip room rate, subject to availability. If you plan to arrive early or leave later, complete this form ↗ to request additional nights.

Is travel insurance recommended?

Yes. We strongly recommend travel insurance with emergency medical benefits. Your regular health insurance may provide limited or no coverage in Mexico, and many hospitals require payment up front, even if your insurer may later reimburse you. An unexpected illness or injury could therefore leave you responsible for significant costs during your trip. Travel insurance can also help with covered medical transportation, cancellations, delays, and other disruptions, depending on the plan. Check your existing health coverage and review any travel policy’s benefits, limits, and exclusions. An Allianz travel insurance quote and purchase link will be sent to the email address provided when you book. Learn about Allianz travel insurance benefits ↗
